Wait for the Lord….

My heart has been wrecked afresh and anew due to my Savior’s gentle hand at work in my life. When I read the Bible, I have a tendency to read 5 or more chapters at once so that I can pat myself on the back and feel good about how much I’ve read. God recently revealed to me how prideful this was, and has lead my heart to 2 chapters of His word, where I have camped out for the past few weeks. Beloved, if you haven’t spend deep and intimate time in a few verses of Scripture over an extended period of time, I highly encourage you to do so, it will completely revolutionize the way you read the Bible.

Psalm 62 and 63 are where I have spent the majority of my time recently, and boy are they good.

“For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.”

If that verse were to be said of my life right now, it would say, “For God my soul waits.” I believe that the words, “alone” and “in silence” are paramount to this verse. I wait for the Lord because that’s the only choice I have sometimes, or I wait for the Lord because it’s what I know I’m supposed to do.

Rarely do I wait on the Lord….alone
Rarely do I come before the Lord and recognize that my sole dependence is from Him and Him alone.
Rarely do I live my life relying upon His strength and His salvation.

Often when i come before the Lord, it is to pour out my complaints, ask for things, discuss things with Him, etc. Oh when was the last time that I came before the Lord and simply recognized Him as the Lord and waited upon Him in silence, simply trusting Him.

Trusting that he has everything under control, trusting that He is good, trusting that He won’t desert me, trusting that he is working events in my life for His glory.

Oh that I would learn what it means allow my soul to wait on the Lord alone. You see, when my soul is rested and waiting on the Lord, it reveals my true dependence. It allows God to take control of His rightful place in my heart and in my life and shows the world that nothing else but my Beloved Savior is worthy of my full attention.

“Oh My child, give Me your heart, for out of it issues life. My hand is upon you, and I will keep you in all places wherever you go. I am your god, and I am your Father, and I will care for you and provide for you according to all that you need. I will be at your side, ready to help you whenever you call on Me. I am not unmindful of your needs, and My concern is for you. Simply wait upon Me.” -Francis Roberts
